Microsoft Azure apparently launched their first Azure servers last week in South Africa. This was done after announcing around a year and a half back that they would announce the servers. They are now live by ExpressRoute in Teraco’s Johannesburg and Cape Town data centers.
This news comes at a time when most Africans had stopped playing Rainbow Six Siege when Ubisoft initially announced the servers long during the Six Invitationals 2018. The Ubisoft team had announced that the servers would be dropping by end of the year 2018 but did not fulfill their promise. This was partly due to the fact that Microsoft had also delayed on their promise to launch the Azure servers. Out of all the Azure server launches Microsoft had its deadlines met, the South African launch was the one deadline it had failed to meet.
Now that Microsoft has done it’s part all eyes are on Ubisoft to fulfill its obligation as all Africans are looking at Ubisoft now. With that being said, let us hope they will do their part. We in Kenya are also eager to see who the Kenyan operator will be.
