When esports is mentioned, it is considered a male-dominated sport, hence very few female participants in the active official duty. News just came in as a gamer girl and female esports pro gamer by the name Sylvia Wahome aka Queen Arrow has just been recruited into US based esports team XiT Wounds. She is the first female pro gamer in Kenya and Africa to be recruited by the team and is the first esports pro gamer in Kenya and East Africa to receive a sponsorship from a globally recognized esports brand.
The esports team announced it on their twitter handle as quoted.
Good Morning XiT Fam! today we are proud to announce that @XiT_WoundzGG has officially signed Mrs. @MalikaSiheme98 as our officially first Woman Tekken player and enter the East African esports scene! And our support for @itstekken254! ???Article to follow soon pic.twitter.com/4eiHOu8oNF

They had also quoted on the XiT Wounds website,”With XiT Woundz signing Mrs. QueenArrow, we hope that other Western esports entities follow suit and sign players from Kenya and elsewhere! As we all come together, to develop and support each other, our players can grow and help all scenes gain exposure.” This marks a very special milestone in history and in Kenyan gaming and esports that will set a positive upward trend for many to come. What has been said may happen in the new upcoming days. It is possible now that other pro games in Kenya and the region could start being recruited to other esports teams as well.
The team also expressed their commitment to build esports in Kenya and regionally to build the sport as it continues to grow. Our gratitude goes out to XiT Wounds and also to Davy Kamanzi of Tekken 254. He has done an outstanding job in representing Kenya in all aspects. We see good days ahead. Long live esports.
Huge congratulations to Queen Arrow…i’m also a lady pro gamer from Kenya and would love a challenge from her ?
