This past weekend was the Rainbow Six Siege World Tournament dubbed the ‘Six Invitational’ and it was one stunning show. Rainbow SIx Siege Pro League Champions Penta Sports took home the Thor-looking sledge hammer as the trophy of the tournament. They beat last year’s invitational Champions Evil Geniuses in a grueling match that went straight to overtime. The Evil Geniuses were the tournament favorites all through but this was a gift to the European squad Penta Sports.
Evil Geniuses. EG, took an early lead with Penta easily catching up to the game. Penta did look frustrated at first but kept their calm and swooped in with the overtime win to take the trophy. The win was done by Penta‘s celebrated player Pengu being the last player of the team on the last round of overtime in a heart reathing clutch.
ESL has been known for making unconventionally relative trophies based on the game that is the platform of competition. A similar tournament called the PUBG Invitational” the trophy were pans; very interesting subject of discussion. The sledge hammer is a replica similar to that of the one owned by Sledge, who is an operator in the Rainbow SIx SIege game.
As the winning team, Penta Sports takes home the Six Invitational’s first place prize money of $500,000, this marks the end of the Six Invitational”, in which Ubisoft revealed more details for what’s coming in Season 3 including 2 new playable Operators and a new mode called Outbreak. We also heard that there a Microsoft Azure servers that will be in South Africa to host the Rainbow Six game. This comes as good news just seeing that ESL had debuted last year at 2016 with tournaments for CounterStrike: Global Offensive and Hearthstone. We hope to see a Rainbow Six Africa regional tournament also since the Rainbow Six movement in Africa is very strong. Let us remain hopeful.
