Activision just announced that its just launched Call Of Duty: WWII generated the $500Million within the first 3 days of release or as put by the publisher, “the first opening weekend”. This figure is double the amount of copies its predecessor, Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare sold. The game was launched on November 3.
This figure is through retail customer sales and not shipped copies which makes it credible enough to prove its success. The First Person Shooter(FPS) also set a new record by becoming the “best-selling digital full game,” on PlayStation 4 by units sold on the first day. It also had the highest, number of connected users in total on current-gen and PC for a Call of Duty game.
The CEO of Activision, Eric Hirshberg, said this during the press statement
“Call of Duty: WWII returns the franchise to its roots and the results are incredible, selling twice as many units in its opening weekend as last year, and setting the day one record for full-game downloads on PlayStation 4. Our $500 million opening weekend was not only bigger than Thor: Ragnarok’s, it was bigger than the opening weekends of both Thor and Wonder Woman combined. And we’re committed to supporting the community with continuous improvements and new content.”
The game is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One One and PC.
